Movie Review

Night at the Museum (2006)

I am very glad to mention that "A Night at the Museum" is a great family movie. The visual effects are superb, and the movie features the likes of Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Robin Williams, and Dick Van Dyke. As you would expect, the acting is great, and I really enjoyed the story line as well. Ladies and Gentlemen, if this movie is a sign of the future family movies in the industry, then it's time to witness a brand new era of movies that the whole family can enjoy.

It all starts when Larry Daley (Stiller) looks for a job. There is only 1 opening left as a job, and it's to work as a night guard at the Museum of Natural History. Naturally thinking, Larry assumes that it will be and extremely easy job, and earn $11.50 per hour. When the former nightguards introduce Larry to the museum, they seem very strange. As they leave, the guards hand him a flashlight, and a set of instructions. From there on, the fun would start.

Larry spends his first night at the museum as a very shocked man. It all starts when he sees the Dinosaur skeleton is missing from it's stand. After a wild chase with the reptile, he explores all of the live creatures in his museum. Among the things that he meets include Atilla the Hun, Sacagawea, Teddy Roosevelt, Octavius, and many more. Some complications arise, such as letting creatures in and out of the museum. As Roosevelt (Robin Williams) said, if one creature gets out of the museum before sunrise, then everyone turns to dust.

As the movie progresses, you learn more about the characters, and how the museum works. As you may have been wondering, what brings the creatures to life? This I will not reveal in my review, but you can find out by watching the movie. Larry feels like quitting his job after 1 night, but he reads up on his history, and decides to endure another night of complete mischief at the Museum of Natural History. I will not reveal any further details about the movie. But I can tell you that you won't be disappointed.

At the end of the day, A Night at the Museum is movie that has the potential to become a "family classic". It could be a movie that you will keep on your DVD shelf for a long time. This is worth the money, so watch it in the theatres while you can. I hope that you have been further convinced to watch this, if you were recently thinking about a viewing. If you weren't planning on seeing this, then I hope that I have changed your mind, and that you decide to see the next local theatre screening of "A Night at the Museum" starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, and Owen Wilson.
