Why Live Free or Die Hard Must be a Box Office Hit

There are many phases a movie star passes through on his way to becoming obsolete. Bruce Willis is about to pass a very critical phase: twilight of his career. His new action flick, "Live Free or Die Hard", which opens this summer, has a pretty tangled past of it's own. John Mctiernan, the original director of "Die hard, was slated to direct the new one, but he is now facing jail time for perjury, and that problem is the number one priority for Mctiernan to extricate himself from right now. Len Wiseman, the director of both "Underworld" movies was picked for the new installment. All this adds up to some early bad press for "Live Free...", and Willis needs all the help he can get.

Bruce Willis' last three movies have tanked pretty badly, and he was never able to make the transition from action star to dramatic leading actor like Harrison Ford or Sean Connery. This summer at the movies looks to be the most competitive summer of all time, no exaggeration, and "Pirates of Carribbean: At World's End" will be the biggest competition "Live Free..." will have. The Last "Pirates" movie made over 500 million dollars with worldwide box office, and this one looks to better that, since it is the last in the trilogy.

If "Live Free..." fails to pass the 100 million mark, Bruce Willis needs to immediately call his agent pronto, and tell him to get some scripts that actually can showcase his humor, his sly sense of timing, and the deeper psychological depth to his acting. If he does not try to get his career back on track, he will become a part of the wreckage that is the careers of Sylvester Stallone, Jean Claude Van Damme, and to a lesser degree, Steven Seagal. That is a fate worse than death...not a fair fate for a once much beloved action star like Bruce Willis.
